LRRH to Hold Second Community Baraza
Lira Regional Referral Hospital (LRRH) will hold its second community engagement. This followed the inaugural engagement held on 6 March 2025, which became a pivotal moment in the hospital’s reform and accountability drive.
The baraza being held under the theme: “The role of the community in improving health service delivery” aims to strengthen dialogue between the hospital and the community, thus enhancing accountability, and promoting active public participation in improving healthcare services.
The event forms part of a national effort to promote transparency, enhance public participation by having Community members, leaders, and stakeholders share ideas and give feedback to foster better service delivery and strengthen health governance at the regional level.
Dr. Andrew Odur, the Hospital’s Acting Director explained that during the Baraza, citizens will have an opportunity to understand how the hospital is utilized, engage with administrators, and share constructive ideas to improve healthcare services.
Dr. Odur who said religious, cultural, and civic leaders had been invited to the event, urged participants to use the opportunity to assess progress made since the first engagement, identify remaining challenges, and align strategies towards better health services for the population.
He further explained that feedback from the first Baraza guided several interventions aimed at improving service delivery, decentralizing healthcare services, and increasing institutional accountability.
