VP Alupo’s Historic Cross-Border Visit Solidifies Ateker Unity Across Borders
In a historic event that emphasized the shared identity of the Ateker people, Vice President Jessica Alupo embarked on a groundbreaking visit to the Ateker community in Kenya over the weekend.
This significant gesture not only reaffirmed the strong bonds between Uganda and Kenya but also showcased collaborative efforts between the Ateker community and the Ugandan government.
Accompanied by His Royal Highness Paul Sande Emolot, Papa Emorimor, and more than 18 MPs from Teso Uganda, the joint visit highlighted the positive working relationship between the Ateker community and the Ugandan government.

This cross-border endeavor is expected to forge enduring bonds, unity, and socio-economic development between the Ateker people and the governments of both Uganda and Kenya.
During her visit to Kenya, Vice President Alupo engaged in impactful events, including a visit to Busia county, participation in a prayer session at Katakwa Cathedral, a motivational address to the girl child at St. Thomas Girls Secondary School, and an exclusive meeting with local leaders.
When addressing the Iteso community in Kenya, Alupo announced that the governments of Uganda and Kenya are inaugurating two roads to promote unrestricted trade. These roads encompass Swam in Bukwo district leading to Kitale in Kenya and Karamoja to Turkana.
Accompanied by Ugandan MPs representing the Ateker people, the visit received authorization from both President Yoweri Museveni and President William Ruto.

His Royal Highness Emorimor Paul Sande Emolot in his address urged the Ateker community in both Kenya and Uganda to unite for a common purpose.
He emphasized the significance of fostering a strong sense of unity among the Ateker communities on both sides of the border.
Addressing gatherings in Kenya and Uganda, Emorimor highlighted the shared identity and historical ties that bind the Ateker people together.
He stressed the need for joint initiatives in areas such as cultural preservation, economic development, and social progress.

Stella Apolot Isodo, the Ngora District Woman MP also Spokesperson for the Teso Parliamentary Group, expressed optimism about the recent Katakwa visit, highlighting its potential to foster closer ties among the Ateker people, transcending geographical and political boundaries.
Isodo commended Vice President Alupo for proactive efforts in strengthening diplomatic relations, underlining the positive impact on the socio-cultural fabric of the Ateker people.

Emphasizing the role of parliamentary groups in promoting cross-border collaboration, Isodo asserted the Teso Parliamentary Group’s commitment to facilitating dialogue and understanding between different communities.
The group endorsed initiatives contributing to regional cohesion and peaceful coexistence.
As the Teso Parliamentary Group supports ongoing efforts to enhance relations within the Ateker community, Stella Apolot Isodo concluded by encouraging sustained diplomatic engagements and cross-cultural exchanges.
